The All-Star Movies Resort at Walt Disney World is one of those hotels that has some really cool features – but not everything that you may be looking for in a Disney vacation.
When deciding on which hotel you’d like to stay in during your trip, there are a lot of things to consider. Today I’m going to cover the pros and cons of the All-Star line of resorts on Walt Disney property, specifically the All-Star Movies Resort.
My video review is included! (Scroll down to watch.)

There are many similarities between the All-Star Movies, All-Star Music, and All-Star Sports Resorts – in fact they’re practically identical except for the themed decor. This may be a deciding factor for you, depending on your taste.
The one thing I do want to mention is that the All-Star Music also has family suites, so it gives you a little more flexibility if you’re traveling with more people.
The great thing is all three of these hotels have been recently refurbished and now feature modern, clean designs in the rooms. The best part is they’re actually more spacious than they seem due to the well-designed furniture and storage solutions.

My favorite part of this hotel, to be perfectly honest, is the way it’s decorated. The statues scattered across the property are absolutely larger than life.
The above example with Woody includes my tween daughter for a size comparison. When even the ABC blocks are bigger than you, it’s all pretty impressive.
I mean, really – even sitting down Woody is taller than the three-story building behind him. And since each section of the hotel is decorated after a different movie, there’s a lot to explore. When we stay at a place like this, the kids love going from statue to statue and taking photos of everything. It’s part of the experience.

Once inside your hotel room, you’ll notice that they’re clean and somewhat spacious (for a budget hotel). And they have hard-surface floors! No carpet! Gotta love that if you’ve got allergies like me.
The table that transforms into a bed is handy. It’s great because of the flexibility. If you’ve only got two people in the room then you never need that second bed – but if you’ve got 3 or 4 people, you can fold down the second bed only when you need it.
We kept ours down the whole time because the kids preferred it that way. There’s still plenty of counter space without the table including a long dresser, built-in nightstands, and a coffee & mini-fridge cabinet with shelving.
There was plenty of floor space to move around the two chairs, and room for suitcases and shoes. You could fit at least one EVC scooter in there (though two may have been a bit too tight).
Be sure to check out my video below to get a sneak peek inside the rooms!

The bathrooms were well designed. They were simple but modern and clean. The tub/shower combo had a sliding door (no curtain! yay!) and was in a space with the toilet that could be closed off from the rest of the bathroom.
The sink area had a small hanging space for clothes and lots of shelving. There was plenty of room for toiletries and small suitcases. There was enough space for my daughter and I to get ready together.
The sink area could be closed off not just from the shower room but also from the main sleeping area with a sliding door. This helps with privacy but also if you have people getting ready while others are trying to sleep.

Disney hotels usually have fun pools and All Stars Movies was no exception. The main pool is a fairly standard pool, but the decorations make it stand out. There is a lot of lounge space around the pool too, and a pool bar nearby.
There is also a smaller pool in the Mighty Ducks area, and a separate splash pad for little kids. Near the splash pad is a playground which, while not huge, is more than enough to entertain young kids.

Inside the main building there is the lobby, store, food court, and an arcade. The store has fun Disney-themed merchandise like clothing and toys, but also basics like toothpaste and snacks like chips or mini muffins.
The food court is shiny and movie-themed with plenty of seating. It’s basic counter-service food, so expect fare like burgers, pizzas, and chicken fingers. You’ll also find fun desserts and selections of fruits. Nothing fancy but there’s usually something for everyone.

My video review includes a peek into our room and a view of much of the resort:
Essentially, there are pros and cons to this hotel. Pros? It’s fun, modern, offers storage space, and it’s got everything you need. Cons? It’s kinda small and basic and not the place to go for luxury or lots of food choices.
There are nuances, of course, and the best way to decide which hotel is the best fit for your family is to work with a travel advisor. Like me! I can help you choose which hotel will work best for what you want to get out of your trip.
